Earning Your PMP® Certification

Like many other professional certifications, earning your PMP certification is a commitment. You must know the PMI structure as specified in the PM Books of Knowledge (PMBOK). You will need to submit an application to sit for the PMP exam. Here are the key points and eligibility requirements:

  • Four-Year College / University Degree
  • 36 months of experience leading projects within the past eight years
  • 35 hours of project management education/training or CAPM®certification

or 

  • High School / Secondary School Diploma
  • 60 months of experience leading projects within the past eight years
  • 35 hours of project management education/training or CAPM®certification

If you don’t meet these requirements, you may qualify for the CAPM certification. Read more about CAPM below.
