Bob Mason works with companies to develop energized leaders, engaged employees, and more profits by teaching supervisors and managers to lead. A retired Air Force officer, Bob has 35 years of leadership experience, from front-line supervision to executive leadership and his experience includes work with business, non-profit, and charity organizations. Bob is also an affiliate with Academy Leadership, a company dedicated to developing leaders who deliver results. His next scheduled Leadership Excellence Course in Albuquerque is October 20 – 22, 2014.

GenQuest, Inc., is a woman- and minority-owned small business headquartered in Albuquerque, NM. It provides people, services, tools, and resources that organizations and their employees need to create a positive and happy work environment.

 Bio:  Terri Giron-Gordon has over 25 years of experience as a trainer, facilitator and mediator. For over a decade, she has served as the primary mediator for the U.S. Department of Energy/ National Nuclear Security Administration and has worked with schools across New Mexico on special education cases. In addition to running the company, she continues to work with numerous teams on various organizational development initiatives. Terri refers to herself as a Double Lobo in that she holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the UNM Anderson School of Management and a Master of Arts in Public Administration degree from the University of New Mexico. She sits on the UNM Anderson School of Management Foundation Board and is on the Board of Trustees for the Albuquerque Community Foundation.

Terri  is an expert in training, coaching, facilitating, mediating, leading, listening, educating, and working happy. GenQuest is a human resources consulting firm in Albuquerque, NM, with more than 80 employees in over 25 states. GenQuest has current contracts with federal and state agencies, non-profits, the education sector, and private industry.

Title: Modern Risk Management and the Drake Equation: Why They are both Invalid

In this presentation Michael discusses the similarities between the Drake Equation, which is used to approximate the number of planets that might support extra-terrestrial intelligence, and the formula for calculating project baseline contingency reserves. He also discusses Black Swan theory and Network theory as they pertain to and challenge Risk Management theory, and then wraps by discussing the areas of management science where Risk Management theory is appropriately applied.

Bio: Michael Hatfield, MBA, PMP, CCC, EVP, belongs to an exclusive club: he is one of the few people who can legitimately claim to be an internationally-recognized expert in the field of Project Management, having received correspondence on his writings andpresentations from every continent in the world, save Antarctica. He is the author of the long-running  column in PMNetwork magazine, Variance Threshold, as well PMI® Publishing’s 2008 title, Things Your PMO Is Doing Wrong. While he was blogging for the Project Management Institute,  Nicole Adams named his one of the “Top 100 Project Management Blogs.”

Michael’s first book, Things Your PMO Is Doing Wrong, actually spent three months on PMI®’s Best Seller list, and his presentation will address a part of his recent  release, Game Theory in Management (Gower Publishing, 2012).
